Local Mementos is a small art shop dedicated to the everyday landmarks that make a place feel like home. The bars, diners, and corner stores we pass every day—sometimes without thinking—are the same places filled with memories. Through prints and other handcrafted goods, I create keepsakes that highlight the spots people love.

Meet the Artist
Hi, I’m Katie St Surin, the creator behind Local Mementos! I’ve been into art for as long as I can remember—painting, sketching, and eventually studying graphic design in college.
By day, I work at LAND studio, a nonprofit focused on public art and creative spaces in Cleveland. That work, along with growing up in Akron, has made me appreciate how much certain places mean to people and the memories they hold.
All you need to know
This idea began when I made a drawing of Annabell’s Bar & Lounge as a gift for my brother. It was his favorite bar, and I wanted him to have something to remember it by. From there, I kept going—illustrating more places around Akron and realizing just how much these spots mean to people. I love hearing stories like, "This is where I had my first date." Those moments are what make this so special.
Cities change, and places come and go—but the memories tied to them stick with us. Whether it’s a bar where you met your best friends or a diner your family has been going to for generations, these places shape our experiences. My goal with Local Mementos is to capture those spots in a way that keeps their stories alive.
I started in Akron, but I’ll soon be expanding into Kent, Cleveland, and other Northeast Ohio favorites. My goal is to keep drawing the places that matter to people.
Thanks for being here and for supporting this small shop—I really appreciate it.
